EMS Wizard exists to give North Carolina EMS professionals the leadership and management education they need, when they need it.
OUR STORY
Built to close a gap
Most EMS leaders learn to lead on the job, often after they’ve already been promoted. Meaningful management and leadership training for North Carolina EMS personnel has been hard to find, and agencies across the state feel it: a shrinking workforce, overburdened staff, little succession planning and too few prepared officers.
John C. Wilson saw that gap from every seat in EMS: as an EMT, a paramedic and a chief. The NC EMS Officer series was developed in 2017 and grew into North Carolina’s premier platform for EMS leadership and management training. In 2022, John founded EMS Wizard to bring that work, and much more, under one roof. In 2023, the NC EMS Leadership Academy followed, built with leaders from across the state.
Today, EMS Wizard is dedicated to elevating EMS management and leadership education across North Carolina, with innovative, high-quality training built for today’s EMS professionals.

How we serve EMS
Programs. The NC EMS Officer Program, the NC EMS Leadership Academy, continuing education and NAEMT courses for EMS professionals at every stage of their career.
Conferences. EMS at Cherokee and EMS at the OBX bring providers, educators, leaders and vendors together for practical education and connection.
Consulting. Support for EMS organizations in accreditation, compliance, program development and operations, including academic leadership for the Cherokee Tribal EMS Program.
Resources. The EMS Wizard Podcast, the History of NC EMS project and a directory of NC community college EMS programs.
